This old historic landmark gives you a glimpse back in time with its old western architecture. It is mostly know for its pies and snow. In the winter time Julian is a must see. Grab yourself a coat and go sledding on Julian's massive mountain sides. This is a nice community and offers much to visitors, but don't leave without considering one of their famous pies! Standing since 1855, this historic landmark is open to the public as a museum. Nowadays, the lighthouse is a landmark and has a museum about its history. The lighthouse tower is closed for most of the year, but visitors can get access to it on two days of the year. August 25 and November 15. It is sometimes called the "Old Spanish Lighthouse", but in fact it was not built during San Diego's Spanish or Mexican eras it was built by the United States government after California's admission as a state. Also interesting enough it was not just the housing for a light, it was also the home of the people who took care of the light. The keepers lived in the lighthouse and visitors can now view some of the rooms to see what their lives were like.
